Editing Samples
April 2015
My first editing sample is actually two different writing samples: one short, one long. Each includes the original document and my edited version after it. There is also a letter of transmittal for each, detailing what the author will find when they view the edits.
The first shorter piece was for a news publication. I edited it for clarity and consistency. The longer piece was a Harry Potter fanfiction. I edited it for clarity, consistency, grammar, and most importantly, how well the author kept to the source material. I was able to use my own prior knowledge of the book series to help the author improve her own story while still keeping true her plot.

The following resume edit was completed for a client searching for a job in retail. I used track changes to edit the content so that the resume would showcase the client's most relevant work history and skills. Comments range from simply removing unnecessary information to leaving revision suggestions (AE4) to asking questions designed to make the client think about the information she is including and why she is including it (AE8).
